Transfiguracions is an unclassifiable essay by Lluís Calvo, who advocates spirituality freed from any dogma, submission and hierarchy. A spirituality that in unbelieving times constitutes the maximum transgression.

The book is divided into three parts, in which the author makes three different routes but which could be the same: an ascent to the Sierra Cavallera, a journey through various spiritualities -India, Nepal, Japan- and finally a journey through the body. human full of allegories.

Drinking in Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam, this book proposes an exciting journey that starts from matter and nature and culminates in alchemical transformation.

Transfiguracions is essay, philosophy, narration, prose poem, repose and delirium, transformation and sedimentation of the heart. The work starts from sacred texts, but also uses thinkers, writers and artists, from Schelling to Kerouak, from Kierkegaard to Bataille, from Deleuze to Weil, accompanied by the works of Jordi Alcaraz and Alfons Borrell. Personal experience, thought, intellectual diary and narration go hand in hand in this disturbing and amazing work.

Epilogue by Laia Llobera.

Before writing this notebook, its authors had only one premise, which was to reflect on two great concepts: future and travel. The result is an essay of essays and a voice of voices. You will find poems, songs, different languages beating at the same time, family stories and personal stories. The crew are ten creators, activists and thinkers, and ten young immigrants. This book is the result of a whole process that tries to narrate the lived experience, the days shared and the accumulated doubts.

Enjoy this Journey to Mars as much as much as we have enjoyed the journey, which never ends and is always about to begin.

Five groups of creators, activists, thinkers and young people who have migrated alone were, for three months, the crew of a metaphorical mission to Mars to think about their experience of travelling and the future. Several fruits have emerged from this experience, which we have collected in this book.

Organized into five groups (with 2 young people and 2 activists per group), the first mission of this trip was to create a word for the CCCB’s Vocabulary for the Future project. With this excuse, they met several times and got to know each other, reflected on their migration experiences and shared common hobbies. These resigned words are the first fruit of the project: HOUSE – RECIPE – MOVE – LINVER – NOW.

The second fruit, and the main one of this book, are the notebooks of each participant: texts that reflect the impact of the encounters on each one, reflections on migration, personal ties and transformation. A heterogeneous and very human collection.

After the critical acclaim of his previous essays, Lluís Calvo presents a work based on the first meridian. Crossing the French capital city, it drew a cartographic axis that crossed through Europe from North to South and continued through the African continent; that is why it was generally known as the Paris meridian. However, it was the Greenwich meridian which was adopted as the universal reference. Building on this historical tidbit, Lluís Calvo becomes an explaining machine, as he develops a remarkable effort of geographical irony at the expense of the straight line. Through 157 pages, divided in 7 chapters, he wanders about the traumas and scars that the different ways of conceiving space have left in our history. A line that passes through the very foundations of our culture: from the French Revolution to Occitan monks, from the fleeing of Republican fighters to the legend of the Comte Arnau, from the Roca Village shopping centre to the art of Pierre Soulages, Joan Ponç and Jean-Luc Godard. And also from Titus Livius to Tiqqun, from Maragall to Baudelaire. And, of course, Paris. The roguish and resistant Paris of the republic of artists and criminals that was Montmartre, of the spiritual dissidence —and, at the same time, the flagship of progress and modernity.

The book is presented with an initial poem by Calvo himself, a closing poem by Jaume Pons Alorda and a lenghty epilogue by Francesc Gelonch, where he goes over Calvo’s theses and interacts with them. In Gelonch’s words, in El meridià “there is an encouragement or exhortation to an interrelation that is impossible, but necessary. In fact, Calvo, giving in to probing and examining on the spot the incommunicating vessels that a simple straight line unites, undertakes a very Romantic operation, which consists in making the landscape appear. Each of these conceptual ruins and irreconcilable tensions have the particularity that they can be strolled through, and the author gives testimony of them. Hence why the most cunning, intelligent, refined or perverse moments of El meridià de París are, perhaps, the moments when it places its focus on actual people, on the journey that becomes landscape, and on the abstract space that becomes a proper place”.

Un sereno en el cementiri de l’art is the first essay published by Poncianes. The author’s offering approaches the theory of the art of literature using a philosophical language, cryptical but at the same time deeply reflective. The volum gives voice to Vicenç’s dialogue with some of the crucial personalities of the artistic revolution of the 20th century. From the Noucentisme to poststructuralism, Altaió stops at the first and the second avant-garde movements, explaining how the shift from one to the other took place. After Dau al Set, Zush, Jaar and Galdón take the stage. Throughout the book we find all the big names of plastic arts, Dalí, Miró or Calder, among others, together with the masters of the poetical revolt of the written word: Eugeni d’Ors, J.V. Foix and Joan Brossa. Interviews with Antoni Tàpies, Arnau Puig, Pere Portabella, Albert Ràfols-Casamada, Alfredo Jaar, Hannah Collins, Jordi Colomer and Jaume Josa complete the volume.
