A requiem, a mass for the dead where Juana Dolores invokes the Catalan nation and, at the same time, interprets it. of poets, leaders and lovers, who have renounced the sense of identity. And they have poetized, led, loved this country, apocryphally». As in all her work, Juana Dolores conceives and creates from the tension between ideology and beauty.

It consists of the poetic texts of a requiem written by Juana Dolores, two literary texts by the author that situate the gestation of the text and reflect on the art of writing, an epilogue by the composer Marc Migó and a final block of 21 photographic creations made by the photographer Román Yñán and the artist Rosa Tharrats, regular collaborators of the film director Albert Serra.

A book that will not leave any Catalan indifferent.

The text was set to music by Marc Migó and performed by Cor Canta and the Terrassa 48 orchestra at the Barcelona Auditorium last March 5.

Diving into the wreck, a National Book Award-winning book, was written at a moment of impasse between the life Rich had known until then and the life that awaited her. Her husband of seventeen years committed suicide in the fall of 1970. From that point on, all of Rich’s romantic experiences would be with other women. In Diving into the wreck we find, for the first time bluntly, the change of consciousness that had been building for years, and the author deals with topics such as language and its relationship with power, the historical relationship between men and women, and sexuality. It reveals the intellectual and creative journey made up to that moment, and it is also where you can see the world that opened up in front of her. We readers accompany the poetic self in this search for a new way of trying to grasp and explain the world. It is a me that inquires, doubts and illuminates.

Throughout the work, the importance of language is shown to portray these new realities, fleeing from male literary canons and, therefore, looking for an alternative way of expressing oneself. There is a commitment, latent in most poems, to the idea of community and interdependence. Consciousness, which may seem personal, is actually a social and shared consciousness. There is also a commitment to unearthing the silenced, and the fact is that Diving into the wreck is a book that, in essence, wants to give space to possibility. Pol Guasch’s translation into Catalan, beyond respecting the formal awkwardness of the original, keeps the emphasis where Rich places it, and makes the potential meanings reach us intact.

Rich is talked about as a political poet, but her poetry never fell into the slogan. It reaches us with the same validity as half a century ago because what transcends it are not only the ideas that arise, but the mind – curious, intelligent, open to mistakes – that is behind it.

Translation by Pol Guasch
Foreword by Ada Bruguera

Biography of the author
Adrienne Cecile Rich (1929, Maryland – 2012, California) was an American lesbian poet, essayist, intellectual, critic and activist. She died at the age of 82. As a student, her poems won the prestigious Yale Prize for Young Poetry, from which came A Change of World (1951), which showcased his formal technique.

Her next work, Diving into the wreck, shows the transformation from well-crafted but imitative poetry to an energetic personal style. Her growing commitment to the feminist movement influenced much of her work. Her poetic work, along with that of Audre Lorde and Alice Walker, have inspired the struggle not only of North American feminists but also of Latin America.

Short poems, almost aphorisms, since she was touched by the philosophical world and especially by the thought of the philosopher Josep Maria Esquirol.

In this collection of poems, she does not deny the lyrical world, nor that of the song, since they are part of her identity, but she questions it. Ivette Nadal (Granollers, 1988) is a singer-songwriter and poet. At the age of 17, she took to the stage, always combining poetry and song. Her songs and concerts and the collaboration with musicians such as Manolo Garcia, Pascal Comelade and Caïm Riba support a solid musical career where she understands poetry and song as two aspects of the field of creation, which is why her concerts are filled of poems and also philosophical quotes. She has published Camí privat (2008), Arbres, mars i desconcerts (2017), L’àngel i la infermesa del pensament (2020). Her recording work most closely linked to the world of poetry is Mestres i amics, where she sets music to the work of contemporary Catalan poets (2012). And the last, most radical poetic-musical proposal that she has presented to us is En nom de la ferida (2020), an album made four hands with Pascal Comelade.

Transfiguracions is an unclassifiable essay by Lluís Calvo, who advocates spirituality freed from any dogma, submission and hierarchy. A spirituality that in unbelieving times constitutes the maximum transgression.

The book is divided into three parts, in which the author makes three different routes but which could be the same: an ascent to the Sierra Cavallera, a journey through various spiritualities -India, Nepal, Japan- and finally a journey through the body. human full of allegories.

Drinking in Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam, this book proposes an exciting journey that starts from matter and nature and culminates in alchemical transformation.

Transfiguracions is essay, philosophy, narration, prose poem, repose and delirium, transformation and sedimentation of the heart. The work starts from sacred texts, but also uses thinkers, writers and artists, from Schelling to Kerouak, from Kierkegaard to Bataille, from Deleuze to Weil, accompanied by the works of Jordi Alcaraz and Alfons Borrell. Personal experience, thought, intellectual diary and narration go hand in hand in this disturbing and amazing work.

Epilogue by Laia Llobera.

Before writing this notebook, its authors had only one premise, which was to reflect on two great concepts: future and travel. The result is an essay of essays and a voice of voices. You will find poems, songs, different languages beating at the same time, family stories and personal stories. The crew are ten creators, activists and thinkers, and ten young immigrants. This book is the result of a whole process that tries to narrate the lived experience, the days shared and the accumulated doubts.

Enjoy this Journey to Mars as much as much as we have enjoyed the journey, which never ends and is always about to begin.

Five groups of creators, activists, thinkers and young people who have migrated alone were, for three months, the crew of a metaphorical mission to Mars to think about their experience of travelling and the future. Several fruits have emerged from this experience, which we have collected in this book.

Organized into five groups (with 2 young people and 2 activists per group), the first mission of this trip was to create a word for the CCCB’s Vocabulary for the Future project. With this excuse, they met several times and got to know each other, reflected on their migration experiences and shared common hobbies. These resigned words are the first fruit of the project: HOUSE – RECIPE – MOVE – LINVER – NOW.

The second fruit, and the main one of this book, are the notebooks of each participant: texts that reflect the impact of the encounters on each one, reflections on migration, personal ties and transformation. A heterogeneous and very human collection.

“This book is an exploration. Through words, signs and drawings. What is being explored is Mescaline. What I learn, I learn in the moment like a novice. The reader will do so. Just as it was a surprise for me, it must be for anyone who reads me.”

Henri Michaux (1899–1984), Belgian artist, cultivated painting, poetry and prose in French. He made travel – both real and imaginary – the central theme of his art. With mescaline, an alkaloid extracted from the peyote cactus, he will experience “the deep sensation of maintaining a mysterious relationship with everything, the deep sensation of living an extracorporeal life out of time, of participating in the Eternity”. Exploration of himself, but above all exploration of poetry.

Michaux marked a whole generation of new writers and creators, also in Catalonia. He was a close friend of the sculptor Apel·les Fenosa, who dedicated a bust to him, and influenced Mercè Rodoreda in works such as The death and the spring and Travels and flowers.

Translation by Guillem Usandizaga
Foreword by Joaquim Sala-Sanahuja

The author
Henri Michaux (Namur, 1899 – Paris, 1984) was a versatile artist born in Belgium, active in the fields of poetry, prose and painting who wrote in French. Very attracted to Eastern cultures, he developed a painting made of calligraphic strokes and signs as if it were a particular alphabet, often made under the effects of psychotropic substances, such as mescaline.

Unable to distinguish writing and painting, both creative records served to weave a universe of a very personal poetics that fascinatingly shows the fissure that separates reality and representation. Michaux understood aesthetic production as a ritual experience, an action that, through the repetition of certain gestures and movements, creates a different time, disconnected from the logic that governs the day to day. This is how throughout his work he developed a tense and rapid style, made of electric shocks, short and agile phrases, and energetic and rhythmic strokes.

This collection of poems by Enric Casasses includes the poems he wrote in various notebooks over the course of three years and the drawings that accompanied them. It is published with a design that seeks to reproduce the chaotic and eclectic format of the handwritten and painted notebook, with the poems spread across the pages in various sizes and arrangements.

According to the author, “this book is a vital moment of a few years turned into a global vision of everything, it is a poem of the world that takes on all forms and tones and moods… and soon it speaks of love or intimate relationship, as of nature and the city, and raises philosophical and metaphysical questions, and makes essay and criticism and satire and sarcasm of things and of literary and vital opinions, and that is why it has the form of verse, of prose poetry, sometimes of essay, of aphorism also a lot, and almost also of small narratives. The set is a jigsaw puzzle that reconstructs an entire world: the world, with a style that goes
of the most elemic realism, (touching the ground, yes, but what is the ground? where is it?)».

The musical-poetic recital that bears the same title, “El nus la flor”, is a journey through several poems from the book set to music by Daniel Ariño, who also plays the piano. Their names are Enric Casasses (spoken voice) and Maria Mauri (sung voice), and they have been recorded on a CD that you will also find accompanying some copies of the book (price: €29). You will find the book in bookstores and the musical part on Spotify.

We present the theatrical version of the epic of Guilgamesh that was staged by the theatre company La Perla 29 at the opening of the 2018 Grec festival.

One of the oldest human fictions, which has reached us in the form of clay tablets in cuneiform writing from ancient Mesopotamia. The first versions of the work date back to Sumeria 4,000 years ago. The great classics are those that take on all the future visions that are yet to come, and this one certainly does.

In it you will find the aspiration of Gilgamesh, king of the Sumerian city of Uruk, and his friend Enkidu to embrace life in all its fullness. The king, who has defied the gods themselves to leave a mark and be eternally remembered, is forced to wander through life, searching for its meaning.

Guilgamesh needs to understand, and that’s why he wants to stop time, and the whole journey he makes in pursuit of the life that escapes him ends up being life itself, his life that is learning. Only when he is old, and returns home again, does he understand this reality, accept it and recognize himself as an old man who has lived his life trying to catch it.

The version we are publishing of the work, made by Jeroni Rubió Rodon, is designed to reach a wide audience, both for those who heard it in its performance at El Grec and for the reader who will read it on paper. Unlike academic editions, it adapts the argument to make it easier to read.

Foreword by Oriol Broggi.
Sheet of 11 full-color photographs of the performance at the Grec.
